Thurnby Chimney Sweeps is located in the heart of Thurnby which was the inspiration for the name. The business began as Alex Moore, the owner, couldn’t find a local chimney sweep company to clean his own chimney. He attended a highly sought after course ran by the Institute of Chimney Sweeps, commonly known as ICS. There he gained the fundamentals of chimney sweeping and all the modern day techniques which are used to maintain a truly high standard.
Training didn’t end there for Thurnby Chimney Sweeps and Multi Fuel Installation, they went on to become HETAS registered as a stove installer. This is no easy accomplishment. HETAS, a non-profit organisation, is the leading training provider for solid fuel, wood and biomass installations. Registered installers are trained and approved to UKAS standards.

Our pricing for our chimney sweeping service is just £50. It’s why so many customers schedule months in advance with us; to ensure they don’t forget to maintain their chimney. If you would like to schedule in a recurring bi-annual sweep with us just get in touch and we’ll arrange this for you.
Most common problems customers face
Burning poor fuel is the biggest problem for customers. Also not having their chimney swept regularly by a professional sweep has been a problem for customers. It’s why we offer a bi-annual schedule to support our customer base. You wouldn’t drive a car without it having its MOT afterall. Well your chimney, if not maintained correctly, can release harmful gasses into your home which can be life-threatening. It’s why we have so many customers scheduled in advance.
How often should a chimney be swept?
HETAS, a non-profit organisation, suggest that you should have your chimney swept twice a year. Especially when burning wood of bituminous house coal. If you’re burning smokeless fuels, then once a year is advised. The optimal time to have your chimney swept is at the start of the heating season and after your stove has not been in action for a prolonged period of time.
